Question:
I may be facing abdominal hysterectomy in the near future.
I am 4 1/2 months post op and expect to have panniculectomy or abdominoplasty as well. When I mentioned this to my gynecologist, he suggested that I have both procedures at the same time. I can barely stand the thought of another surgery, let alone two, so it sounds reasonable to me. Anyone else been faced with this problem and how did it go? — Katie F. (posted on April 27, 2001)

I am having a hysterectomy, hernia repair and abdominoplasty next Thursday
5-23-02. My hysterectomy is because they found precancerous cells and
hernia repair is in gastric bypass incision. They have reserved 8 hours in
the operating room for me and that amount of time makes me kind of nervous
but have talked to 3 doctors who say the risk of having seperate surgeries
far outweigh the risk of doing them all at once. My tummy tuck will be a
little tricky because of old gallbladder surgery scar intersecting with my
RNY scar. These have to be removed because it can cause a blood flow
problem after tummy tuck surgery. Nothing is ever easy but the
possiblility of not having a lap full of skin all of the time makes it all
sound worth it to me.
