Question:
My insurance won't cover Trinsicon. Any suggestions?
My doctor says that this medication is medically necessary but my insurance won't cover it. Are there other supplements that I can take that are less expensive than paying out of pocket? I don't want to have shots of B-12. — Twila S. (posted on March 16, 2001)

My ins didn't pay for it, either. And the cost made my hair stand on end.
It is Rx iron, actually, with the B12 as a side issue. We don't actually
absorb much of the B12 for it anyway, though it is a good iron for us.
There is an OTC iron that is more mg, but doesn't contain the B12, C &
instrinsic factor that the Rx ones do. You can use the sublingual B12's
for awhile, but eventually, you'll need the shots. No big deal. Really.
And they're cheap.

My insurance won't cover Trinsicon either, but they will cover the generic
called Foltrin. They have the same exact ingredients. Ask your
pharmacist.
