Question:
When might it be possible for a lap rny person to have some crab ragoon?
I've seen lots of posts on chinese food, and i'm thankfull for the answers. What i used to get was an order of sweet/sour chicken, white rice, and crab ragoon. I always ask for sauce on the side (just not a big fan). And i know now to limit or stay away from the rice. But, i have a huge craving for some crab ragoon. Anyone got the lowdown on them? I waited for about 9 months and still only eat one. I am now 21 months
out. Good luck and enjoy. Darla

The grease is likely to get you. It will be an experiment, but I would not
try something that greasy for at least 6 months and probably longer.
Things that are deep fried just seem to not be tolerated as well as things
that are just naturally fatty. At least that was my experience.

Mmmmm, eggrolls are my fav, even over crab ragoons. However, at 14months
out, I still can't imagine even trying a bite of something like an eggroll
(or crab ragoon). While I know many posts may say "don't even start
trying to eat foods like this", I say try it, IF you can limit
yourself to just one as an occasional treat. I would only try one bite and
then wait. Grease in most any forms are intolerable to me - they taste good
on my tongue but afterwards~UGH! Not even remotely worth it. (I know this
by 2 different episodes: 1 piece of toast with a micro amt of butter and on
a different occasion, ONE bite of potato casserole.) I am supersensitive -
which is FINE by me. Negative reinforcement has its place in behavior
modification! Best of luck to you in your quest for Chinese. I have Chinese
every few months - my husband and I both enjoy VERY different meals and
usually order 1 combo plate. I have never had a problem with any kind of
Chinese, provided that it is not batter-fried foods. Particular fav is
broccoli beef/chicken. OK - must be time for another glass of water. Now
I'm getting hungry! Enjoy your journey. LAP RNY 05-02-03 336/162/???

From what several Asian friends have told me, the further one is from
either coast, the more "Americanized" most Asian food is - more
sugar in the sauces, more fried. So it stands to reason that I should not
have been surprised any time I get sick from an Chinese restaurant in the
Midwest :) I dump pretty easily so any Chinese food here is out of the
question typically.... unless I get something pretty simple (not fried, no
sauce).
Crab rangoon would not be able no make it to my plate - sniff :(
But for me, there are plenty of good reasons to have a protein shake
instead.
If you can tolerate that oil and the carby wrap, I would really make it a
once-in-a-while treat.

I seem to be able to tolerate most Chinses food, although every so often
the grease gets to me. If I order a combo plate, I try for something
steamed or sauteed. I can sometimes handle the egg roll, ot part of it,
and the meal is good for 2 to 3 sittings. I have eaten crab rangoon,
although not mored than 1 or 2 at a time. I do sometimes regret it at
night. It can be a once in awhile treat, but I'd wait at least 6 months or
so before experimenting like that. I'd be more concerned with the sweent
and sour stuff because of the grease soaked in the breading. Good luck!

You need to ask your doctor this question, he/she is the sole authority on
the foods that you should be eating and when. Sorry, I know this is not the
answer that your were expecting.

Phil the real question here is can you even ingest the crab ragoon. After
WLS a lot of things that you crave for are mental as the stomach (pouch)
rules from what I understand at least 1-3 years. I haVE cravings but when
I attempted to fulfill them I was sorely surprised - LOL. You'll find
yourself forced to try new foods because the old "comfort" foods
don't work. I have fantasies about what I want to eat and even fix a plate
of my favorites only to be forced to put it back or throw it away, because
I could not get pass 1-3 spoons. - MATTER over MIND - NOT MIND OVER MATTER
- MATTER BEING FOOD!
