Question:
ATTN: Californians who have been insurance-APPROVED for plastic surgery!
Hi there! I just wanted to hear from any and all Californians who have been approved by their insurance company for plastic surgery (panniculectomy, abdominoplasty, brachioplasty or mastoplexy. What insurance do you have? How long did it take to get approval? Did you have to appeal? I am moving (back) to California in 2 1/2 months, and want to know which insurance companies are more apt to approve these procedures for reconstructive reasons after RNY or other WLS. Thanks in advance! — sweetmana (posted on March 15, 2004)

I guess this means there are absolutely no Californians who have been
approved by their insurance companies for plastics? Either that, or none of
them have visited the board lately?

Have you tried the Plastic Surgery Forum? There are many many members from
California listed. Many of them mention insurance. Msybe you could e-mail
them your specific questions? Shelley

I had a panni, November 2002, PacifiCare. Took 3 weeks for approval, no
cost.

Shelly: I spent a good chunk of time last night looking up all the
Californians from the Plastic Surgery forum which didn't yield too much
information. This is why I posted out to the main board. Thanks, though!

I saw the PS in August. Letter was sent to my insurance (BC/BS PPO) by PS
for approval in Oct. I was approved Jan (two weeks prior to surgery date).
I had tummy tuck and breast lift w/augmentation Feb. 4. The insurance
only paid for the tummy tuck. Everything looks and feels great! Love the
new boobs and flat tummy. Thinking of having thigh lift and butt lift after
the holidays.

surgery in 2 weeks. I have blue cross of CA PPO. They approved me in 4
