Question:
Is this reason enough for approval?
I have been pretty lucky in the preservation of my skin throughout this process (down about 85 pounds in 7 months and a total gym rat) but I know that there will be a bit of an overhang in the belly region, nothing that I believe in my wildest dreams would be approved by insurance for a tummy tuck. A few weeks ago I noticed that I keep getting a rash/infection in and around my belly button because skin gets slapped together when I put a belt on. I don't wear the belts to tight or anything I know it is just a product of too much skin. Anyone ever get a tummy tuck approved on those grounds? Any advice would be useful. — Sarah S. It is worth a try with your insurance company. EVERY time you get a rash
like this you need to go to your primary doctor or a dermatologist and get
this documented. This will try to prove the medical neccessity of the skin
removal. Good Luck

I'm a pre-op, but I've read people say that they take pictures of skin
rashes to prove the insurance how severe they get and how often they get
them. I would definately document it with a visit to my PCP or
dermatologist.

Your surgery was only six months ago. Your skin will tighten more in the
next year. I'd wait at least 1 year before surgery. You'll save yourself
pain and money if you can avoid the knife.

I wasn't planning on even going for it for at least another year but the
skin that is there I am quite positive will remain, it just has NO
elasticity 2nd to child birth stretch marks and so forth. thanks for the
replies thus far.

Sarah, I've had two kids, and the skin will bounce back some with time.
Mine didn't really start to look 'normal' (I laugh) until I was at my goal
weight for at least 8-9 months. I agree with the previous poster...wait a
bit and see what happens.
