Question:
Seeking women who started NuvaRing POST-OP

I posted this around 10am this morning, and it never appeared on the board, so I'm trying again.

Ok - I'm grasping at straws now, trying to explain this damn two-month plateau I'm on (ok, I've lost four pounds in two months, no weight at all for two weeks, but i'm JUST shy of FIVE MONTHS post-op! That's a plateau in my book!). I want to know if anyone who started NuvaRing post-op has noticed any slow-down in their weight loss. It seems pretty coincidental that i was losing so well for the first two months post-op, then after starting NuvaRing, my weight loss slowed to a trickle. I'm working out every day (cardio, weight lifting every other day), have now increased calories to 1000-1200 per day, increased protein to >90 grams a day, drink at least 64 ozs of water, take my vitamins, calcium, and just started sublingual B12, plus my thyroid meds, and eat at least 6 mini-meals during the day.

WHAT MORE CAN I DO? WHAT ELSE CAN IT BE? I'm getting so discouraged.

(Calming down now) Anyhoo, please post with your post-op NuvaRing experience. Thanks in advance. I have been on the Nuva Ring for about 6 months now because I thought the Depro Shot was slowing down my weight loss, I did notice my appetite decrease a bit...but it sounds like a plain old plateau Sweetie...I plateaued a lot so please feel free to check out my profile. Try mixing things up a bit, eat differently for a few days, even stop exercising for a few...always seemed to help me break those darn plateaus. Also, funny, but graphic story...I was having an "encounter" with a feller and the ring not only came out, but...ahem...shall we say I would have won if I had been playing horse shoes? LOL Anyhow, feel free to e-mail me if you need more support. I decided to go back to the shot when this ring runs out...I am not as happy with it as the shot.

I was on the nuva-ring for one month and hated it. I had abnormal bleeding all month and the thought of that thing was gross. I did not notice a slow down in weight loss, but maybe just mood swings. Good luck to you!

I haven't used the NuvaRing but I slowed WAY down around the same time as you are. I finally broke the plateau this past week. (YES!!!) Now I'm waiting to see if the loss will continue! Cut back a little (just a little) on your calories, when you cut back, cut out more carbs or replace carb calories with protein calories. Upping your water and increasing protein seem to help. I know it's been said time and time again, but it really does seem to work. Judging from your profile we seem similar except I was a little heavier and a couple of inches taller and you've lost more weight quicker. It seems as though I plateau around every corner. I think that is what this is. Keep your chin up - it'll get better! Pam
