I agree with Iris. My Dr. says - no bread. He feels it clogs up the works
too early on, besides - it is a carb and will slow you down. My favorite
eat on the run item is a tablespoon or 2 of non-fat refried beans from a
can. Spread on plate, add a little cheddar cheese and microwave, then add
sour cream and dollup of chopped tomatoe when it comes out. When you can
eat solids, I just throw a few shrimp on a plate and heat them in the
microwave. You might also be able to eat thin sliced cold meats by now.
They are better to eat than the bread. I would heat them in the microwave
with a little melted cheese as well. The carbs will make you feel run down
once they digest, so its good to stay away from them. If you look in the
library of this web-site there are alot of recipe ideas including many
which can be done quickly without compromising your weight loss.

Personally, you're pouch will be much happier if you had a couple of
crackers or tortilla chips than to bog it down with bread (which swells to
3 times it's original size and gums together into a ball in the pouch). You
don't have to cook for quick meals. Pick up some of those little bucket
(in the canned foods aisle) meals. They have stews and chicken dishes -
all cooked very tender. Jerky, moz cheese sticks, yogurt, sugar-free
pudding, Kashi hi-pro cereal, hot cereal with unflavored protein powder and
splenda, pre-cooked sausage or bacon that you heat in the micro, peanut
butter by the spoon (or on a cracker...sigh...), cream cheese, etc. Lots
of quick options besides bread.

The way my surgeon's office explained bread was that any bread not toasted
has a tendency to "ball up like a doughball" in your pouch and
can cause you lots of problems. I'm nearly a year out and I don't eat
much bread because I don't like the feeling it gives me and I don't need
the carbs.

Bread is probably not what you should be eating at this point. I'm 12
weeks out and I stay away from most bread products, except a few bites of a
tortilla in a quesadilla. Bread has a tendency to gum up the works, so to
speak. Besides, if you want to maximize your weightloss, keep your carbs
to mostly fruits and veggies. Protein should be your mainstay for maximum
weightloss and healing.

Don't!!!! Unless you like pain. It was about nine MONTHS before bread
did'nt hurt like he##. I'm over two years out, and at times bread still
puts me in agony.
