Question:
How does the body survive on so little?
I just got off the phone with a representative of Dr. Wood in Warren, MI. They will have openings in Jan. 2003 - which excites me. BUT I'm concern about their Micro-pouch. It only holds 1 cc???? How can I get enough to eat for me to maintain my own body's needs to make new cells, blood, etc. I'd like to hear from people who have had the Micro-pouch - what do you eat? Are you healthy - any problems? — Sally P. (posted on November 22, 2002)

I am a patient of the wonderful Dr. Wood, and I chose the micro-pouch. I
had my open RNY 7/1/02, have lost 90 lbs and my labs are *perfect*. When
you go to the consultation or a support group meeting, they will explain
the micropouch quite well, and explain the elasticity of the stomach
muscle. I can comfortably eat 3/4 cup of food, or about 4 oz of meat. You
can also see some of the physical aspects on their web site
www.micropouch.com I might also add that I went thru WLS because I have
PLENTY of 'reserves'! I eat anything, no carbs at this point to ensure
maximum weight loss. I promise you will not dwindle away to nothing. Our
bodies burn off the fat reserves because of the decreased amounts we eat,
and the decreased absorbtion. I am very happy and proud of this choice and
have only good things to day about Dr. Wood. Email me if you have any more
specific questions.

To make a long story short, your body lives off its fat stores! LOL Don't
worry ... you'd be amazed how well our bodies can adjust to times of
famine.
