Question:
Would the ephedra-free Xenadrine be safe to use post-op?
I checked the library to see if there was any information on the ephedra-free Xenadrine but only found questions pertaining to Xenadrine with ephedra. Am asking if ephedra-free would have same health risks as the regular Xenadrine. Thank you for your responses. Evelyn — Evelyn E. (posted on November 1, 2002)

just check the caffeine content. You do not want to take a med with lots of
that either. But no, I have not needed anything like that. Good Luck to
you!!

I can't for the life of me understand why anybody would want to take any
diet pill after having this surgery. You simply don't need it if you
follow your physician's protocol.

I "DO" know why you would want to take diet pills after WLS,
because I want to, too. I get so hungry now; much more than before surgery!
I would even take Xenical if possible. I'm sorry that I can't answer your
question, but I do understand how you feel!!

I started taking Xenadrine EFX, ephedrine free, about a month ago, when I
caught myself grazing, and feeling as if I was starving, especially just
before my mensus. I am almost a year out. I have not had any problems with
it, but I do not take it daily. On the contrary, it gave me a small boost
of energy, as well as stopped the constant cravings. Please feel free to
e-mail me. Best wishes

I also understand why you would want to take a diet pill after surgery, and
I know plenty of gals that do, although, I am not sure if it's safe,
because they don't use the efedra free diet pills. We don't stop gettung
hungry after the surgery, so I can't understand why anyone wouldn't
understand the need (or want) for diet pills? Anyway, i wish you luck, and
just wanted to say I know where you're coming from! Maybe ask your doctor?

I too understand only too well your considering using diet suppressant even
post surgery. I am now going going on 15 months out of lap RNY and am
finding myself truly hungry much of the time. I am fighting to keep my
calories under 2000 a day and STILL finding myself HUNGRY. And yes, I try
to keep carbs low and protein high. Doesn't matter. Head hunger, real
hunger, I don't know, all I know for sure is that it doesn't matter which
it is. It's still painful. I'm kind of bummed that my expectations going
into this a year ago were warped. I really and truly thought I would not
ever feel that ravenous hunger again. And I also believed that I would be
full on 2 tablespoons of protein. HA. Not to be for me... Hunger is back
in all it's ugly glory. And my weight loss is showing it. I haven't lost
anything for the last 2 months. I am sitting at 187 to 191 with another 40
lbs. to my goal. I had been so sure that I would actually do it this time
that I am having a bit of difficulty not feeling like a failure. I find
that my cycles (I had a hysterectomy 8 years ago but believe me, I still
get all the symptoms of pms..bloating, craving, grouchy, weepy etc.!)play a
huge part in how hungry I am. I crave carbs big time and feel like I am
literally starving..almost as though my body is feeding on itself
especially during this period every 26 to 29 days. Not fun. So anyhow, I
know my post doesn't answer your original question Evelyn, but just wanted
others to know that there are some of us out here who are not as fortunate
as others who are satisfied with minimal calories and continue to try to
find a way to succeed at this. I so do NOT want to be one of the few who
fail at this too..shudder even at the thought....
