Question:
I started on Ortho Novum 7/7/7 last night.
Several people have said that it made them gain weight. How did it? Does it increase your appetite? Does it cause water retention? Anyone on Ortho Novum 7/7/7, I'd like to hear how it has worked for you and if you've had any problems with it. Thanks — nguerra (posted on June 3, 2002)

I was on Ortho Novum 777 for about 10 years and I didn't have any of the
side effects you refered to. I just switched to another pill because my
doctor told me it would help with facial blemishes. And I have noticed a
huge difference with that. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Is Ortho Novum a birth control pill? I was told that as a post op we
should not take pills for birth control because we do not absorb them as
well as before and they would therefore be less effective in preventing
pregnancy. There are many other non-oral alternatives, such as condoms,
IUD, Depo Provera, Lunelle, etc. I, for one, use Lunelle (monthly shot).

Yes, Ortho Novum 777 is a BCP. I used condoms and the sponge before, but
it seems that I am allergic to latex and spermacides...So, BCP is what my
doc put me on instead.
