Question:
Help!!!. I gag just thinking about my protein supplements.
I am 2 1/2 weeks post op and on full liquids. I liked the taste of pro blend 55 preop, but now, I gag just thinking about them. I vomit if I go ahead and try to drink. I don't vomit anything else. I know I need protein. Any suggestions are appreciated. — Kathryn L. (posted on March 26, 2002)

Hi... I am preop with surgery in only 6 days but in preparing, a friend who
had surgery 2 months ago discovered Extreme Pure Pro protein drink which is
phenomenal. It is a fruit juice type drink and it is the one that is used
post-op in the hospital here after WLS. It comes in 20 oz premixed bottles
in grape or tropical fruit punch and each 20 oz bottle has 42g of protein.
She mixes hers half drink and l/2 premixed raspberry ice crystal lite.
I've tried it and it is great. A good idea is to put it in a big sports
bottle with ice and just nurse it over the day. We are supposed to use
Myoplex which is like drinking liquid chalk and our doc approves of this
instead. You can get it by ordering through GNC (it is an American
Bodybuilding product) or through Bodyden.com online. Vitalady also carries
the 2.33# jar of powder that you mix with spring water. I ordered 2 cases
(each 10 bottles) from GNC then got a jar from Vitalady as a backup. My
best to you.

I'm 6 months post op. My protein regimen is this. I take 2 tblspoons of
Proteinex liquid 2 x per day and this is 30g. I also have a 15g protein
bar, either Balance Gold or Zoneperfect. The rest is food.

I liked CarbSolutions in the coffee-type flavor cut with a little milk. I
also liked Zero Carb Isopure. It tastes like koolaid. They are both sugar
free.

TRY THIS ONE JUST ONE TIME
Go to GNC and purchase the atkins premixed either chocolate or vanilla. One
11 ounce can has 20 grams of protein, 2 grams of sugar, close to zero carbs
and taste better than a micky d shake. Purchase them on the first seven
days of the month so you get your 20% discount and enjoy.
I also gagged just thinking about protein, now I look forward to my morning
breakfast and evening snack with these drinks. Good luck

I love Metrx Total Nutrition Shakes, in Extreme Chocolate. About 240
calories and 37 grams of protein. Fix 'em with ice cubes and it's like a
Frosty. Good luck!

I take Proteinex 4 times a day for 60grams of protein. It is allot easier
for me to take a couple tablespoons of something than struggle with the
mixed protein drinks. Granted not everyone can stand the taste of
Proteinex, but have you seen what they eat on FEAR FACTOR??? Actually I
like Proteinex...So i guess I am lucky!
