If you are RNY, you're not going to absorb iron from foods well at all.
Have you tried an iron supplement that does not hurt your tummy or cause
constipation? Ferrous SULFATE is the most common one used and it is the BAD
one. It causes all kinds of discomfrot and it is not well absorbed. Several
other kinds of iron don't hurt and do absorb. Always take iron with C, but
not with caffeine, milk, antacids or ulcer meds, any other meds, any other
minerals. Let them alone for an hour, together.

I don't know how much iron we absorb but, here is a salad I just love.
Simply toss baby spinach, sliced blanched almonds, mandarin orange slices,
and optional red onion slices and or blue cheese crumbles. Drizzle with a
low fat or fat free raspberry vinagrette (there are lots of good ones). I
love this salad.

Try shrimp - you can buy it already cooked and peeled at most seafood
depts. About 4-5 medium shrimp will be a meal. For an iron supplement, my
pharmacist recommended a brand called "SLOW FE" because it
doesn't cause constipation like other types of iron supplements.
