Question:
Will I have more energy after a Vitamin B-12 injection?
I was given my first Vitamin B-12 injection today. Although my lab did not show a real low deficiency, my doctor thought it best to do so as I am having leg cramping and pain. What can I expect? Will I have more energy? Clara — clara M. (posted on June 11, 2001)

HI CLARA. I CAN TELL YOU FROM FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE THAT I NOTICED MORE
ENERGY AFTER MY FIRST B-12 SHOT. MY DR. TOLD ME ABOUT THE B-12 NASAL SPRAY.
IT WORKS JUST LIKE THE INJECTION BUT YOU TAKE A MUCH SMALLER DOSE. YOU TAKE
ONE SPRAY A WEEK AND YOU ALTERNATE NOSTRILS. FOR ME IT WAS A FAR BETTER
OPTION THAN HAVING TO REMEMBER TO GET MY INJECTIONS AND ALSO YOU DON'T FEEL
REAL RUN DOWN IN THE LAST TWO OR THREE WEEKS BEFORE YOU ARE DUE FOR ANOTHER
INJECTION. I THINK THE NAME OF MINE IS NASOCROBAL AND IT IS A RED GEL JUST
LIKE THE SHOT AND IT IS BY PRESCRIPTION. HOPE THIS HELPS. ---TONIA

Hi there! For me, the B-12 shot is a Godsend! It takes a day or two to
kick in, but when it does- just call me roadrunner! Meep Meep!

It's an automatic that my doctor gives us one per month. For me it doesn't
do a thing, but my friend is more deficient, and it gives her the energy
she's lacking. I guess it's an individual thing like most aspects of this
surgery. As a matter of fact, she's now on them once a week instead of
monthly, so she must be really lacking in that department. She's also
further post op, so with time, maybe our resources deplete if they aren't
kept up with. I take a b-complex tablet a couple times a week to prevent
it.
