Question:
I've been on a plateau for 2 months now, could the problem be that I don't eat enough

I will admit, I don't eat very much. Nothing sounds good and when I do try to eat something I usually don't finish. I drink tons of milk and take my vitamins but as far as food goes I'm just not interested. I will eat yogurt or an occasional PB&J, but for the most part I just don't eat much of anything. I've tried to drink protein shakes but end up spitting them out cause...well they suck. I have read for people to eat more to break a plateau...does that work? And if so any suggestions on what I could eat...even when nothing sounds good. I don't think I have an eating disorder...but from what I read it's not uncommon...I mean my clothes get looser and looser but my weight goes no where...even has gone up...Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hugs to you all.    — Jillisa R. (posted on June 7, 2005)

Yes, your body could think that you are starving it. You really need to get in at least 1100-1200 calories a day. You need to plan plan plan your meals and snacks. If you do not want to go the shake route then you really need to make sure that you have plenty of protein in your house or office available. Cheese chunks, chicken, tuna, eggs, yogurt, protein bars, nuts, there are many beans that are high in protein, fish, pork, beef, turkey, cold cuts, roasted soy beans, sunflower seeds, peanut butter (not just PB&J all the time) just to name a few. Good luck.

I agree with the other two post you need to eat more. I also went threw same thing was not losing and it was cause I was not eating enough. YOU NEED TO EAT! and exercise. The plateau will break and the weight will slide off...take long(er) walks. bake/grill a piece of salmon or put a baked potato in the microwave and add a little margarine and chow down (slowly and methodically of course...) drink water 15 minutes prior to eating and drink nothing else for 90-180 minutes afterwards. hope this helps... I think you may need to start experimenting with what you are eating. The protein shakes are a must - experiment until you find one you can stand. The one I am using, combining sugar-free Instant Breakfast with a particular brand of protein powder, is the only one I can stomach - and I mix it with ice water - not milk. Milk seems to be too sweet for me. I also hit a plateau, so I started eating South Beach diet style - mostly chicken and vegetables, very low carbs, and started losing again. When I stray from eating like this I start feeling sick every time I eat - I seem to be very carb sensitive.

Please continue to try protein supplements made with water. "tons of milk" is what I give my dad to fatten him up! It's not about the fat, it's about the sugar. can you lay out your day, sort of? Vitamins, supplements, water, food & portions?
