Iam 6 weeks PO and have lost 24 pounds. I only started out at 255 though and they said the smaller you are the slower the weight loss. I also haven't been consuming the total 64 oz. of water and because of an open incision I haven't been as active, so they said drinking more and exercising will help the weight loss.

i'm sorry you have not lost more, but could you of lost 17 pounds in that time frame prior to wls?? i could not of. some of us loose slower than others, thats okay, you are not in competition with anyone, not even yourself, if you feel good are healing well and are loosing something, then hang in there make sure you follow your doctors instructions on what to be eating, eating wrong (making bad choices of food)can slow down the loss. hang in there!

I am 25 days post op. I, too, was a 'light weight' the day of my surgery 235 lbs. I was stuck at - 20 lbs for about a week, then I started walking and working out. I am up to 45 minutes on the cross trainer and in a ddition, I walk several evenings a week for 2 miles. In the past week I have lost 5 lbs.

Remember - you are only excited to lose weight now because you can. I like the other answer I read because it was going to be mine to you also. You could not have done this prior to WLS - don't expect it now. The stomach stapling is a tool - not a cure-all. Your body is going through so many things right now. It is trying to heal and has no idea you have thrown it for a loop. It is going into the mode that it thinks it has to store calories. That will stop soon when you go to pureed foods. By now, you should be eating a good deal of protein. When I focused on fish, my plateaus would break and I would drop a pound a day. Try 4 Ritz crackers with Tuna at lunch. Wait until 8 weeks out and you will see things in a different light. Good luck!

I lost 16 lbs in the first 2 weeks and then nothing for 2 weeks so I only lost 16 lbs in the first month. But now I am almost 3 months out and have lost 44 lbs. It may go slow but it sure adds up! Hang in there! Hazel

Becky, I averaged about 13-15 pounds a month for 6 months. Now at nine months out, I am within 10 pounds--150 of my goal. I have had a steady lost with no slow periods. Don't worry...
