I am 7mo post-op(tomorrow) lost 112# and I am hungry sooner than 3hrs, but I just don't always eat. You could drink some crystal light or something. I eat 2-3 meals a day (if im not sick) and 2-3 snacks, plus lots of liquids. Don't worry about needing advice, I still ask away, but I've been doing this alone so it's been very hard and confusing for me not to have someone to ask, im so glad I found this site. Good luck!

Here was my instructions for 4-6 week phase - I am 8 weeks out and don't go back for another month, so not sure if it will change the farther out I get - While you are awake, you will still need to consume some form of nutrition every 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours. Eating small meals, on time, will reduce the possibility of stomach spasms. The spasms feel like the entire stomach is contracting and are usually caused by waiting too long to eat between meals. When your stomach is empty, acid from the larger stomach fills the small pouch and there is not enough room for food. Whatever small amount of food you can eat will cause your stomach to cramp and you will feel nauseated. Hope this helps!

Yes! I was doing more like 2+, myself. But they want us to stick to 1-2 oz food til we reach goal. And that doesn't run your motor for long. I think it's great that you're keeping your pouch small. You'll thank yourself later!

hi, me like the others have said need to eat about every three hours or so. my surgeon said about six small meals a day. dependind upon how much you can eat i'll have a half a sandwhich no crust, then later some peanuts, then some salad with chicken in it, then some yogurt or string cheese and then a little bit of what my family is having for diner and sometimes after that some cut up fruit. sometimes i can eat that all in a day five months post op sometimes i can't but you gotta keep the motor running and not let your stomach get to hungry or you'll get sick. take care, kimberly open distal rny 11/12/02 -80 lbs

Congratulations on your weight loss! You are normal and eating a little bit every 2-3 hours is great for keeping your pouch small and your blood sugars on an even keel! (How many times were we MO people told only to eat 3 meals per day and we would lose weight?) Didn't work then and doesn't work now! (I am about 5 months out also!)

Both my surgeon and nutritionist advise 5-6 small meals a day which means you end up eating something every 2 1/2 to 3 hours - so you are perfectly fine...JR

I seemed to have had that problem too. I noticed that when I started the "Pouch rules for Dummies" (http://www.digitalhorsewoman.com/pouchrules.htm) that that feeling went away. I noticed that you didn't post how far out of surgery you are, but this won't work for you unless you are at or around 6 months or more out. It's all in the water loading before meals. Check it out, try it for a couple days, and back to your normal eating habits and see which way works best. Good luck!

Terri, There's some great answers out here, speaking with a nutritionist they're right, eating ever 2-3 hours, will help you loose weight faster as your matabolism will always be turned on ! , and won't slow down..... I would just at this point, if you plan on eating every 2-3 hours, count what you eat, or nibble on, and make sure it's a wise choice, I usually eat about 6-7 meals a day which are about 200 calories a meal, give or take a couple depending on what I eat, just make sure your protein numbers are up there, on an average day I usually consume about 100-110 grams of protein the more the merrier ! You'll see the weight loss ! And you'll have awesome results.. Best of Luck Post op 11 months down 127 pounds
