Question:
8 Months Out, Increased Capacity, Is it too much?
I had WLS 8 months ago and have lost 124 lbs. I have 15 more lbs. to go to reach my personal goal. My question is this. I just got back from lunch and I ate a large Wendy's chili w/crackers. Most days I only eat a small chili and am satisfied. However, today is one of those days that the old behaviors are kicking in and I feel like I could eat a very large amount. Today has been an especially stressful day. Are there others out there that can eat that much at one time? — Karen H. (posted on February 6, 2003)

I am 9mos out and find myself in the same situation. Some days I am not
hungry at all, other days I find myself able to eat larger portions and it
scares me. On those big portion days I just try to be conscious and ask
myself "Is this just head hunger?" Sometimes it is, other times I
really think I'm not full. Maybe somedays our bodies just need more? The
fact that I don't feel this way very often makes me think the later is
true.

Karen,
I'm at where you're at, 8 months out and down about 115 pounds, I too find
myself eating a larger amount then a couple of months ago. I'm in the same
boat as you are, I find it scarey to be able to eat more, or noticing I'm
able to tollerate more grams of sugar in an item. I hold true to the
Fitday.com website, wether or not I'm a good girl I write everything down
that I eat, even if it's a little bite of something , it all counts.....
I try to make wiser choices when I'm really hungry or really stressed out,
I'm an emotional eater, always have been and I think I always will be.
Stress is every where and it's hard to deal with it. I how-ever have not
led myself back into my old habits, I've actually picked up bad (health
habits allong the way) eating peanuts...
I find that when I'm stressed I pop a bag of pop corn, and eat teh whole
darn bag of it... Hence that'll be the only thing I eat for dinner. I
usually average around 1500-1800 calories a day some more I've been trying
for less, how-ever those peanuts and even corn nuts were made by the devil.
Even the smallest handfull is high in calories and in fat..
Karen don't worry you sound like you're doing awesome, you're evening out,
and only 15 more to loose. You're doing fine, I'm about 25 pounds from
goal....

Karen, its funny I am the opposite, some days I can eat a 6oz burger w/
cheese (no bun) and the next day I can only eat 1/3 of a Wendy's Chili. I
agree with the previous poster, our bodies are different everyday! Also, I
find I can eat alot more around my monthly! Also, a WLS friend said for
her its texture of the food, I agree! Anyway, good luck to you! Heather
