Call you doctors office and ask what the chose for their patients to drink, thats what I did. My doctor uses Boost Plus so I am well stocked......

I disagree with the previous poster. I have checked into a lot of different protein drinks and I think Boost, SlimFast, and a lot of those you can buy at WalMart & places are too high in sugar. Go to www.vitalady.com they have a great selection and Michelle Curran on this site can help you a lot with all your nutrition questions, and so can the library at this site. Good luck!!!

I am very picky when it comes to my protein shakes because everything made me gag. I have been trying everything possible to find a drink that I actually could tolerate. Well, to my surprise, I found one that I actually enjoy! I buy Lean Body for Her in the vanilla flavor and add some sort of fruit, or sugar free syrup in it. This in my opinion is by far the best tasting protein powder on the market!

I have been very happy with American Bodybuilding's Extreme Pure Pro powder in the Tropical Punch flavor. It doesn't taste too chalky, and I am not really into the chocolate/vanilla thing. I do have a chocolate one, which brand it is, I don't recall, but it is only bearable if mixed with milk, and I am not really into the milk thing either. The Extreme Pure Pro mixes perfectly with water. I buy it at netrition.com for about $30.

I drank High Protein Boost, chocolate flavor, half can 4 times a day for the first month after my surgery. other than that I ate blended soup, fat free yogurts, fat free milk, jello, and popsicles. (the cold foods seemed so good to me for the first couple months)! I tried powders but the High Protein Boost worked for me. I bought it at Walgreen's or Walmart and my surgeon was happy I was taking in nutrition each day there at the start.

You have to be careful because some so called protien drinks such as slim fast, are very high in sugar and can cause dumping. You should get one that is low in sugar/carbohydrates. I like carb-solutions. Comes in chocolate and vanilla and sells at Walmart for under $9/can. Also edge carb-controll has premixed protien also at walmart. I would advise to check them out to find one you like before surgery.
