Question:
Any post-ops still have food dreams?
I was really shocked at how well the RNY changed my mental desire for food and my constant thought about food. However, I had an episode yesterday that is kind of scary when I think about it. I had my first piece of pizza post-op yesterday (Papa John's thin crust w/ cheese...yum!). I was so happy that I could actually eat a whole small slice of pizza. It's been so long, and for four months I've literally only been able to eat 4 or 5 bites a meal. Well...last night as I'm lying in bed, I couldn't help but think about that pizza. "When can I have it again? Oh...it tasted soooo good." Etc. I'll was practically in a zone just thinking about that food. Well...I hope it's not something that becomes usual again. But it lead me to wonder how many post-ops experience the same thing. Anyone have a good "dream" story? — Tracy L. (posted on November 15, 2001)

I had lots of dreams about eating hugh quanties of food. Once I was able to
eat more than a few bites those drea,ms went away. I am glad I cant do that
big eating any more.... 90 pounds gone is well worth it.

I have had quite a few dreams about eating a lot of food. I dreamed I was
at a buffet and and was filling my plate with a whole bunch of yummy stuff.
Then I remembered I couldn't eat it and I was bummed out! I have a lot of
daydreams about food, too. I long to eat the things I used to love.
Hashbrowns with ketchup, hamburgers, pizza. But I am still unable to keep
anything like that down. And of course I can't eat the big quantities I
used to love either. I think this is more or less normal.

I prefer to think of them as food nightmares! Early post-op, I would have
dreams about rich, creamy foods, and would wake up nauseous. Now, 10 weeks
out, I'm having nightmares that I'm eating real ice cream, or chocolate,
even though I know that I'm going to dump, so I can't even enjoy those
foods in a dream! The good part is waking up and realizing that it never
really happened! :)

I am only 10 days post op. I had incredible dreams in the hospital about
all sorts of food. Even one where my son was dressed in a M &7 M
Hawaii shirt eating a red tootsie pop! I don't even like M&M's! No
more dreams like that now.
