Question:
How many WLS members have had Plastic surgery to remove extra skin?
I WAS JUST WONDERING ABOUT THE EXCESS SKIN THAT EVERYONE KEEPS TALKING ABOUT. HOW MANY HERE HAVE HAD TUMMY TUCKS BOOB JOBS AND SO FORTH? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT MY OPTIONS...AND DID INSURANCE COVER OR DO I NEED A SAVINGS ACCOUNT? — Cathy B. (posted on October 26, 2001)

Cathy...I am pre-op, but I have lost over 100 lbs. through my own efforts.
Surgery will help me to lose the rest! *smile* I have a great deal of
loose skin in my abdominal area already, and am planning on having an
abdominoplasty when I reach goal. I am *hopeful* that insurance will pay
for that, due to regular rashes/infections of the site. Those have to be
medically documented, however, so it helps to go to your PCP each time one
occurs (IF one occurs.) I don't believe I have a hernia, but many times
the insurance companies cover the abdominoplasty when a hernia must be
repaired. NOW...I'm also planning on having my breasts done...a lift with
implants. I'm *fairly certain* my insurance WON'T pay for that...LOL...so
I'm starting to save along with my fiance (husband to be in Spring of
2003...) I'm don't think I'll need my legs done, and although my upper
arms are GROSS, I think the incision scar that is left by that surgery
would deter me from wearing sleeveless shirts anyway...so I'm not planning
on that right now. But who knows what the future holds? *grin* Good
luck!
