Question:
Suggestions for improving the plastic surgeon forum.

We need the following information regarding your Plastic Surgeon. List the name, city, state, and phone number of your plastic surgeon. Also lists their specialty for example Panniculetomy(apron removal), Abdominalplasty(tummy tuck) thigh lift (thighplasty) etc.etc. This could be just the beginning to the plastic surgery addition to this site, but we need your participation. We'll see how large that list can grow. I have a suggestion for the name of the plastic sugery area of this site.. How about "Renewed You" ? Just an idea, what do you think? - L. Nicholson    — L. N. If there is a particular area for this answer I couldn't find it so I will post it here. My plastic surgeon is Dr. Christopher Jones (who happens to be the spouse of Dr. Rose Marie Jones, my RNY surgeon!) He practices in Carmel and Indianapolis, Indiana at Sando Jones Aker Cosmetic Surgeons. I do not know if he has a particular specialty. He did a great job on my Brachioplasty (arm lift) and I will be glad to share any details about that if anyone is interested. Cheers!

I think an additional sight addressing this issue would be helpful. I am not contiplating all of the 'plasties and 'tomies - because of my excess skin. I would like to learn more and see if it would be cover under insurance. I have approx. 50# of excess skin weight. I had heard of skin donation programs - but have found that this only refers usually to cadavor donation - I'm very much alive and feeling great after my RNY of 9/14/99 Just too old to get the excess skin and fat to tighten up. So as you have been helpful in the past - this would be a much needed sight full of info. I will keep searching and updating you of what I find.

This addition would be very helpful to me. I am 3years post-op VBG and am dying to have "Nips & Tucks" I need some help with what exactly I need to do to get insurance to pay for this. I went in for a consultation about a year ago just to see and a breast lift, tummytuck, and liposuction around my sides was $16,000. I really want arm and thigh lifts also. Dr. Abdel Fustok is in my area. He seems very good but I really don't know. Would love some help with this! I will help any way I can.

I would love to see a site for plastic surgery. I am having a abdominalplasty on the 15th of jan. I am alittle over a year and 4 months post op from a open ryn. I have lost about 91 lbs. I am done to 145lbs. I am very nervous but ready to have it over with. I would feel okay about sending before and after pics for everyone to see the differences. I thought of making my own web page. I tried to find a place to go and see for myself and it is very limited. Well wish me luck. Tina Frey

I am pre-op so I don't have an answer but I do have a suggestion to make to the surgeons. You are doing a wonderful work with us larger folks, please continue and help us to find a way to get some of these extra surgeries after the weight has come off. We want to be beautiful and healthy.

My plastic surgeon is Dr. Leo Keegan, 1125 5th Avenue (corner of 94th Street) New York City, New York,212-288-9800 He does excellent work and is very personable. He performed my breast reduction before I ever considered WLS. He also does thighplasty, abdominalplasty, liposuction as well as reconstruction surgery. He does it all. He has an office in New Jersey as well as New York and is affiliated with several hospitals. He has a staff to handle all your insurance needs.

I had my tummy tuck on December 6, 2000, just shy of one year post-op. My surgeon was Dr. Andrew Freidman at Nebraska Health Systems. His phone is 402-559-4000 then ask for surgery clinic. He is wonderful and did a great job!! I'm trying to have him do my thighs as well, but the insurance is a little hesistant.

I am having a panniculectomy within the next few weeks. I just recevied insurance approval from Nationwide Health Plans after initially being denied. I am also having a thyroidectomy done at the same time so this should be very interesting, especially the recovery period! My surgeon is Dr. Brentley Buchele from the Ohio State University Medical Center. He is a plastic surgeon and performs many other types of reconstructive procedures. According to the OSU Center for Wellness staff, Dr. Buchele is very well respected and is quite adept at securing insurance company approval for the various plastic surgeries that are needed after weight loss surgeries. I am so looking forward to getting rid of the excess skin and tissue! I have always carried the majority of my weight in that area of my body and once gone, I know it will be much easier for me to exercise more and get on to the normal life that I long for!! Life is great and thank God for the surgeons who are helping all of us get our lives back!

Why not add a section entitled "Your Plastic Surgeon Info" (or something like it) to our adminstrator toolset in our profile. That way you can set it up like a form with links to the surgeon in the same way the surgeon information is currently done.

I am 9 days post op and I think adding a plastic surgery link to this site is a wonderful idea!! I already have been researching who, when, where and how much for later down the road. But, having it accessible on this site as a continuing factor to our goals is an excellent idea. BRAVO to you. How about the title: "Places to lay my apron." I know kind of weird, but silly at the same time. Ok here's another: "My Journey complete". Just a quick thought there. Anyway, Bravo, in whatever you do decide!!

Yes, please add plastic surgery info to the site. I am 6 months post op, down 95lbs with another 100 to go. When I get there, I'm pretty sure I'll need a little help tightening up. I like the name you suggested, but also like 'The Body Shop' mentioned before, and 'Nips and Tucks' isn't bad either. Good luck. I know if you add the site I'll be reading and adding information. Thanks for all your doing to keep this website going. It's been a Godsend to me and helped other people here in town find me as they start thier own journey.

I would love to see a detailed plastic surgery page!! I am now almost 2 years post-op from my open RNY-distal and when I was researching the whole WLS picture it was the AMOS site that I found the most helpful through personal accounts of their experiences and the doctors who they said they would recommended or would not recommend!! I have been researching the plastic surgery aspect as I am over a 100 lbs. loser and am in need of an abdominoplasty and inner thighplasty. I have found a few AMOS member who have shared their plastic surgeries in a detailed way but I really had to go looking for them by way of the very long process of searching individual profiles one at a time. Not that I did not find what I needed because during this tedious search I may have very well found the surgeon whom I will be choosing to do my final body work needs from a fellow member who is in my area of Illinois!! But if their could be a page exclusively for the details of plastic surgery experiences it would make it so much easier and would really put the finishing touches on making this the most complete WLS, and beyond, site I found on the web!!! I have a few title suggestions - "The Finished Product" or "I Have Finally Arrived - The Completed New Me" or "The Beginning of the Rest of My Life"! I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has detailed profiles of your experiences including before and after pix - you certainly helped me get started on my WLS journey and now you have helped me to go on to soon become the completed new me!! Lord bless each of you, RevVH

There needs to be a section where you can research insurers that have covered plastic surgery. When I search under insurers, all I find are approvals for WLS.

I say we call it (like the WNBA) "This is who I am". Because for so long, prior to weight loss surgery, I felt like I wasn't the "real me". And now that I've had it...I feel like ME!!!
