If you have excess skin that is causing medical problems (such as recurrent
infections) then they may be able to get it covered as "medically
necessary" Otherwise - seriously doubt it. Can't hurt to ask your
insurance company - but instead of "plastic" surgery I use the
term "reconstructive" surgery - it sounds like there is a medical
problem that needs to be fixed rather than something being done for
cosmetic reasons.

I'll let you know in a few weeks. My stuff is in for pre-auth right now.
They have come back and asked for more info, which is better than a flat
out denial. I have BCBS. I'm not holding my breath, but maybe I will get
lucky. Like the other poster said it has to be medically necessary and
usually recurrent skin infections is your best bet. Me I don't have any of
those so I hope for them agreeing to it because of the severe lumbar
degenerative disc disease I have in 4 discs. Neurgosurgeon wrote a good
letter of support. Now I wait.

All of my requested PS was covered by insurance. Good Luck!
