Question:
I'm 3 months out and just started Ortho Evra....

I actually am at a weight that is acceptable to take this form of BC, however, no weight loss since I started taking it almost 3 weeks ago....what gives? I had been losing steadily up until now....    — richarro (posted on August 23, 2003)

I don't know about Ortho Evra specifically, but a lot of women gain weight or fail to lose weight the first month on birth control. I didn't lose any weight for the first 2 weeks or so when I started back on the pill.

I started "Yasmine" birth control last month and have still lost weight, although I have felt terribly nauseous with bleeding all month long. I never had that with the BCP before. I have heard others say the ortho evra patch made their weight loss come to a screaching halt, so I didn't want to try it.

Hi, I started ortho evra at about 3 months post op. My weight loss stopped immediately. So I stopped the ortho evra. I went back to condoms...I will not use antthing else until my weight is stablized.

The same thing happened to me when I used Evra for birth control--my weight loss came to a screeching halt. When I discontinued the patch, and resumed taking the bc pill (yasmin, in my case) my weight loss started up again.

Hi...I've been using the patches for a year now. I haven't lost any significant weight since December (started the patches in August '02), but then again I was very close to my goal, and I'm able to lose weight if needed (doing it now - I put on 8lbs during my recoup from a breast reduction), so I don't know if it's because of the patch or not. I was on Ortho Evra for two months and did not lose an ounce. I really didn't lose much the month after I stopped either. I guess it took a while to get all those hormones out of my system. I am a condom girl now!
