Question:
Are sugar-free breath savers okay?
Since I don't have anything to drink with my meals, but I still want something to wash away the food taste... I usually have a spearmint sugar-free breath saver and it works great! Or sometimes, if I just want to nibble something, I'll have one then too. My question is this - sometimes I may have 4 or 5 of these in a day. Is this okay? Or is there something in them to make them bad for me? There's only 5 calories in one. hi :o) my surgeon warned me about sugar free candy... the carbs in sf
candy can really add up over the course of a day. i wasn't too thrilled
about that, but he's the expert. i showed him the bag of sf candy, and he
showed me the carb totals... needless to say, i'm really careful with them
now...lol. what i do to get a taste out of my mouth is rinse with water if
i'm out somewhere, or mouthwash if i'm at home... (open rny 12-2-02 down 80

I'm still pre-op but what about those breath strips? They say 0 carbs, 0
fats, 0 everything....

Check the ingredients. I don't think that a few (and I do mean a FEW)
would really hinder your weight loss. However, most sf candies are made
with sugar alcohols (mannitol and sorbitol, for example). The sugar
alcohols cause diarrhea in almost everyone if you use too much. 'Too much'
can vary from one person to another. Try one or two and see what happens.
I've had Type 1 diabetes for 37 years and learned about sugar alcohols very
early. Trust me, it was not a good experience.
