Question:
Anyone know anything about Carb Solutions?
I went shopping today in preparation for when I get out of the hospotal. I found Carb Solutions High Protein Drink. It comes in 9.5 fl. oz. bottles and has 200 cal. 12 g fat; 7 sat; 45 mg cholesterol; 140 mg sodium; 20 mg potassium; 4 g carb; 2 g fiber; 1 g sugar; 20 g protein. Plus lots of other vitamins and minerals. Does this sound okay? Or is it too many calories and fat? I didn't notice that part until I got home with it. I was just looking at carb and sugar. Shopping today sure was different.... Five more days and a wake up! Trying to get prepared. Thanks for your input. Pam — pjnick (posted on October 8, 2002)

I buy Carb Solutions sometimes when I catch it on sale. I've taken it on
trips, when it is not so easy to mix my own protein drinks. The taste is
ok, but I feel you can get a better protein supplement with less calories
and fat grams.

Pam,
I too did the same thing as you have done. Unfortunately, I discovered that
I could not consume a whole drink at once, and ended up wasting half of it
every time. I'm saving them for when I can drink more, (I'm still only able
to do about 6 oz at 5 weeks post-op). Hope this helps some.

hello! i would worry about the amount of fat grams immediately post op.
you can only digest about 2oz each "meal" for the first few weeks
so it may be ok but i would look for a different product with higher
protein and less fats such as myoplex or protoplex or met-rx. those each
have around 40g of protein per 8oz and most ppl need over 80g protein daily
until they can start supplementing their liquid diets with food.
good luck!

I was on Carb Solutions for a little while. Then my tastes started to
change and it didn't taste good anymore. The pre-bottled are A LOT sweeter
than the powder. The powder is very comparable to Slim-fast. It does have a
lot of protien in it. like they said before, the fat content is really
nothing to be too concerned about at first. Then once you are further down
the line, you can reassess everything and find out what you need to do. I
am on ProCel now from Vitalady. It doesn't have any flavor. Good luck with
your surgery!

I have used the carb solution premix drink. Yes they are a little
higher in fat. I prefer the carb control, or the carb solution powder
Very high in protien, and low it carbs and sugar.
