hiya. funny you should post this question, i've been craving chili myself lately and here's the recipe i used just last night. now, it's not the thick tomato-saucy chili so i'm not sure if you'll like it but it's high protein and very very tasty! __________________________________________________ 1 package 99% fat free ground turkey or Morningstar Farms "Beef" crumbles (i swear it tastes just like hamburger with almost no fat and more protein!) 1 can kidney beans, undrained 1 can black beans, undrained 1 can corn, undrained 10 fresh cherry tomatos, chopped or 1 can drained chopped tomatos 4 green onions 6 baby carrots, sliced finely 1 tbs (white) onion flakes 1 tbs garlic powder 1 package Lawry's Chili seasoning 1 cup water spray oil +++++++++++++++++++++++++ brown turkey/beef in large pot using spray oil. add green, white onions, garlic powder. once turkey/beef is browned, add beans, corn, tomatos, carrots, and 1 cup water (more or less depending on how thick you like it). add chili seasoning. simmer for 30 minutes. top with sharp cheddar cheese. soooo good! *i also add 1/4cup Jarrow's Iso Rich Soy Protein powder to increase the protein EVEN more but you'll want to add some more water since this will thicken the chili up quite a bit. enjoy! kate open rny 6-14-01 pre op: 268lbs goal: 135lbs current:126lbs

Allrecipes.com has great chili recipes. I use the one that has like 200+ ratings. Yum!

LOL Ann that's my favorite recipe too! I also like the cans of Chili Magic. You can find them with the beans in the grocery store. They have the beans and seasonings. All you have to do is add the meat and heat them through. There are several flavors--from spicy to mild. They work just as well with chicken as with ground beef.

Think about using ground ostrich for the meat. I do and it is just like very lean ground beef. High in protein, hardly any fat or cholesterol. It beats even extra lean ground beef into the dirt as far as I'm concerned. Check out www.newwestfoods.com

I make an awesome chili, if I do say so myself! lol Here's the recipe...let me know if you try it and what you think: 3 pounds lean ground beef, browned and drained. 1 can black beans, drained. 1 can chick peas, drained. 1 can kidney beans, drained. 1 can Chili Magic beans, not drained. 1 large onion, chopped and sauteed in microwave with large pat of butter until tender to fork. 1 green pepper chopped fine. 1 red pepper chopped fine. 2 large cans of crushed tomatoes. 2-3 Tbs. of minced garlic. 2-3 Tbs. of hot sauce (to taste) Add all ingredients to a large pot and simmer over low heat for at least 1-1/2 to 2 hours. This is great the first day, but the second day is even better and you will probably eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner...like I do!!

Here's one for mild chilli incase you cant handle too many spices. 1 1/2 ground beef (I buy 4% fat) cooked 2 cans kidney beans 1 can pinto beans 26 oz tomato sauce 1 tbls onion powder 1 tbls garlic powder 3 tablespoons chilli powder 1 teaspoon oregano 1 teaspoon ground cumin 2 teaspoons salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 2 cups water Put it all in a slow cooker for about 6 hours. Here is what I figured the nutrition facts are in 1/2 cup (4oz) Calories - 104 Protein - 8 grams Fat - 3 Carbs - 12 Sugar - 2.5 Like I said it is really mild, but you can add tobassco sauce or real onions and peppers if you like.

Go to the grocery store and buy a can of Chili Magic. It has the beans and sauce and all you add is some canned tomatoes and beef or turkey. It comes in Mild, Medium and Hot and is awesome and a piece of cake to make! I can never remember where it is located in the grocery section, but I don't think it's with the other Chili mixes, but it might be. It also may be in with the canned beans, baked beans, kidney beans, etc. It's kind of in a short squatty can. Good luck!
