Question:
Has anyone used protienex?
I am still pre op but my date is coming soon. I got a sample of orange flavor protienex in the mail. It is fat, carb, and sugar free. Is this a good suppliment for the beginning or should I be trying to get all my protien from food? — pam R. (posted on February 24, 2002)

I am a recent post-op,1-8-02 Lap-RNY. I'm not sure it is possible to get
all of your protein in at first at least not from food. I am 7 weeks post
am am just now starting to be able to come close to getting all of mine in.
I have been using Vita4Life Liquid protein and it seems to be working well
for me. I just mix on packet with crystal light or some other drink and
its good for 30 grams of protein and it also goes towards our liquid
intake. The taste is better than most shakes I've tried although I've
recently gotten some really tasty recipes for shakes too. I also received
a sample of the Proteinex and it tasted really nasty and has to be taken
more often than the other stuff. Good luck to you on your upcoming
surgery. After you start eating again its all trial and error for
everyone.

Hi Pam,
I ordered a Proteinex sample (orange) and tried it just this past Sat. I
thought it wasn't too bad. Now I'm not saying it was yummy, but hey,...I've
tried some of the other pre-digested proteins and yuck!! I think I need to
get more protein in so I am ordering some of this and will continue to take
it. I guess anything is a matter of taste, some will like it and some not.
That's life!
