Question:
Does everyone come home w/ a G tube, LAP and otherwise?

Every surgeon has their own preferences and approaches, so I think that you
will receive a variety of responses. I (and 3 other members of my family)
have had lap RNY surgery....2 day hospitalization, no tubes, no drains, no
external sutures or staples....it was great! Remember too, that there are
no surgeries without risks or the possibilities of complications...and that
even though it involves less discomfort and a shorter recovery period, a
lap surgery is just as much a "major" surgery as an open
procedure. Sometimes G-tubes and drains need to be placed as a direct
result of unexpected problems experienced during the surgery. If this is a
concern for you, be sure to ask your surgeon during your consultation visit
about his particular routine. Good luck!

Hi Cindee,
I had lap rny and stayed in the hospital 3 days, no tubes at all..well
other than my iv..which they removed after the 1st day. It is up to the dr.
Ask yours..he will tell youwhat he normally does.
