Question:
Vitamin A (Palmitate) as 45,000 IU - Is this excessive?
This is a question about the Vita4Life vitamins. The amount they have for Vitamin A (Palmitate) is 45,000 IU and they also have listed A as Beta Carotene as 5,000 IU. I know I heard somewhere that too much Vitamin A is lethal to the body! Can anyone help me about this amount of Vitamin A? I had the BPD/DS on April 4/12/01 with Dr. Elariny in Arlington, VA. He requires 5,000 IU of Vitamin A. I know that you don't have to take the entire dosage of 12 pills, but to get all the other vitamins and ADEKs, you need to. I bought a 1 month supply but am afraid to start taking them. Thanks, Nicole — Nicole D. (posted on May 3, 2001)

I've been taking V4L since the day I came home from the hospital after a
distal RNY (100 cm common channel). I take 9-12 V4L/day, with some
additional vitamin C, E, and magnesium. All my labs have been perfect.
Distals -- both RNY and BPD/DS -- malabsorb most of our dietary fat, so
much of our intake of fat soluable substances (ADEK etc) is not absorbed
either. You should do fine with this product, but if you're afraid to take
it -- select something else and start taking it pronto! You need the
vitamins and minerals.
