Question:
When should I stop draining fluid
I am almost 3 weeks post op TT and hernia repair. I had my drains removed almost 2 weeks ago but since then the DR has been draing about 150 cc of fluid a day. When should I start "drying" up? Also one side of my body seems more lumpy than the other, will that even out later on? — beachdog (posted on November 14, 2004)

I had my hernia repair and abdominal plasty done on Sept 23, I went home
with 3 drains, They came out one each week after discharge from hospital
(which I was in for 10 days). After removal, the drain holes still drained
for about 2 weeks, I was told to just keep them clean and covered with
gauze. I still have some swelling and lumpyness, still waiting for it all
to even out,, but I look and feel so much better than before.
good luck to you.

I had my TT & hernia repair nearly 7 wks ago with 2 drain tubes. The
first one was removed after 3 weeks but I still have the 2nd. Hope to have
it removed this week (doc says if the output is 40cc or less in 24 hrs).
Even though the tubes are a bother it's much better than aspiration. I had
no drainage from the first drain incision after it was removed. I LOVE my
flat tummy, I have never had one before.(Dr.Alexander is the
best!Eventhough the TT was to go from hipbone to hipbone he even went
around & got my love handles. What a guy!!) A thigh lift is next in my
plan. Best of luck to you.
