Question:
I ate one choc. chip cookie and in the mornning was in PAIN!!!
I woke up with severe back pain so bad i had to crawl to the hotel elevator-standing up was virtually impossible I fell to my knees in front of the vending machine and started throwing up clear liquids and then my stomach cramped up this went on for about 30 mins. I crawled back to my hotel room and barely could talk the pain was so intense I felt like I couldn;t breathe I think i was hyerventilating because I was scared. I finally made it back to my hotel room and took 3 Aleve and sat in a warm tub for 20 mins got out and fell asleep-I woke up feeling fine and feel fine right now-But i'm really scared-This has happened alot where I wake up with intense bouts of back pain but have not had an episode of this in some months however this time it was the worst. Was this dumping? What is going on with me? I see my primary doc on Friday-I have told her about the back pain be4 and they did xrays which came out fine-they gave me some prescrip meds for the pain but have not needed them in months-Why is this happening-Was it the cookie??? I am almost 13 mos post op and down about 151 lbs to 227w/out clothes on at 5'6-I'm scared any advice — TotallyTori (posted on April 12, 2004)

Was the pain on the right under your ribs possibly radiating to your back?
Sounds like the gallbladder attacks I was having before I had my
gallbladder out on March 3rd of this year. I had one from eating a piece
of cheesecake that was so bad I couldn't stand up straight and hugged the
"Porcelain Goddess" for an hour or more. Good luck! I am 15
months out myself. 252/116

It could have been coming from my ribs but most of my pain was in the
lower/mid back and radiated up with stomach pain/cramps as well. I thought
I would just about die. Severe back pain and being on my knees was all i
remember

I had a friend, 6 months out, who described the same type of pain. Her
physician said it was caused by acid reflux and put her on prilosec. I had
never heard of having such severe pain from an attack, but my husband said
he knew someone who described an attack exactly the same way. Go to the Dr.
and have things checked.

for me years ago back pain between the shoulder blades accomanied by

hours later. low back pain accompanied by vomiting for me many times ahas
been kidney stones.

Sorta interesting that you mention this. I am below goal, and am 14 months
post-op. I had a really bad attack last Monday night. Let me just say
that I can eat just about anything, and the closest I have ever come to
dumping is a mild wooziness or headache. However, Monday was Passover and
I was at my sister in law's house. After dinner, I got the worst cramping
I ever had. It went around my back, and went from my waist up to my ribbs.
Hard to breathe or move. It felt like really bad gas. I went to the
bathroom a few times, and sat on the couch, but nothing alleviated it. I
managed to get home, and crawl up the stairs to my bed. I finally told my
husband I was calling my Dr.. I was convinced it might be a blockage or
torsion of the bowel, as this was mentioned as a possible log term post-op
problem. I had been in severe pain from around 7 PM to around 11:30 PM
when I called. I was holding the phone in my hand and apparently I must
have fallen asleep from the exhaustion. I awke to the phone ringing at
around 7 AM when the Dr. called, extremely apologetic. She told me her
beeper was in her bag right by the head of her bed and she missed hearing
it. I guess the pain must have subsided so I could sleep, but she did say
if could be dumping, but if anything like this happened again I should be
"scoped". I am assuming she wants to look for narrowing or
blockages. I did tell her that the only new thing I had was wine, just a
small amount, mixed with apples and walnuts which is served during the
Passover seder. I have sworn off alcohol now, and hope that this was an
isolated incident. Wow!! The intensity of this (thank goodness no
vomiting) reminded me of labor.
