Question:
I'm 11 mos out down 141lbs-5 alaskan crab legs 2 much???

was 5 alaskan crab legs too much-I was not full I jus stopped eating them because I was scared that was way too much I imagine that if the crabmeat had been out the shell it would probably be only like a 1/2 maybe 3/4 cup of actual crab meat-I could have easily ate a lil moremaybe like 1 or at the most 2 is that way too much-I didn;t eat anything else with or drink anything either-Do most people now just stop looking at how much they eat and just stop when u are full -I usually do that but just wondering if I am alone-Down 141 lbs from I'm trying to lose another 60-80 is that possible for me still-I have been eating more cabs lately not crazy but just rice or beans here or snack size bag of popcorn for a snack which is only 100 cals and 9 carbs-I usually just monitior cals and not carbs 2 much since I don't go crazy with them but should I eliminate them or drastically cut them again and just do protein and vegies until i get the last bit weight off-sorry this is so long-Thanks everyone for your support in advance-Tori    — TotallyTori (posted on February 15, 2004)

I do not think you ate too much but it's always a good idea to discuss it with your doctor or support group if it becomes a continuing problem. There are times when all of us are able to eat quite a bit & other times when we can hardly tolerate any food at all..

If I do not eat any salad or bread I eat a whole pound of snow crab legs from red lobster which I consider a treat. Granted, it takes me about 40 minutes to do it but that is the key. From my perspective, you are eating 100% protein so sit back an enjoy it. If at any point you feel full then stop. I am 18 months post op, I do not pay strict attention to most carbs, I like pasta, rice etc. I have found that sugar in the form of chocolate (my downfall) is what limits my weightloss. I can eat pretty much anything in small amounts. I went into this surgery intending to be "normal" I want my body to stop losing weight when it is ready with the amount of food I have choosen to eat. I do choose proteins over other foods first but sometimes I want some spagetti. I have lost 165lbs and I am at 160 now. I go for my TT next Monday, I figure I will lost another 10 with that. I am happy at 150, I should be in a size 10 at the most. My advice, stop worrying, be conscious of how much you are eating but and enjoy life. Yes, this is a tool, but do really want to obcess for the rest of your life? This is my perspective others feel differently. Enjoy!!

Hi..I'm 2 1/2 years post op, and I'm like Angela. If I don't eat bread or salad, I can easily eat a pound of crab legs. To me, it's ALL protein. I eat it by itself, meaning no butter or anything else (except old bay seasoning) because I love me some crab legs..lol..You're doing great! Congratulations on the 141lb loss! Denise 316/157

King crab legs....yum, my favorite! I'm 4 1/2 years out, and I've eaten 1 1/2 pounds at one sitting...slowly, but I can still get it down. Now, I don't recommend eating that much, but a pound wouldn't be a problem at all. But, like the others, I don't do bread or salad so I can save room for the good stuff...and all protein!

When eating crab legs, a good rule of thumb is the actual meat you'll consume is half the weight of the total legs. In other words 1/2 lbs. of crab legs would give you 1/4 cup of actual meat. When we go out for seafood, I skip only order the crab legs and I get 1/2 lb. I can just about eat that much very easily if I don't do anything else.
