How much fat do we absorb after surgery?

How much fat do we actually absorb after the surgery(RNY)? Is it like it was before? And I am STILL stuck at 172.....GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!    — dixieb (posted on November 25, 2003)

this question has been asked several times...the general consensus??? noone knows, everyone wants to know. I always come to these questions HOPING that someone will finally have the answer...but alas, no one does. Good luck to you.

I don't know how much fat we absorb, but I have heard that if we eat around 1000 calories a day, we will only absorb about 600 of those calories, hope this helps !!!

the rule I live by (and this was simply suggested to me by my surgeon) is that I absorb ALL calories and sugar I consume, 1/2 the fat and 1/2 the nutrients.
