Question:
Can cheese slow your weight loss at the soft food stage? 4-8 wks.

I had been looking for protein sources at the soft food stage and I eat cottage cheese, 2% cheddar cheese, and chicken mostly for my meals. I need other suggestions because I have been app. the same weight for three weeks now. I haven't been able to walk or exercise much because of the pain in my side. Could cheese have slowed the weight loss and what are some good sources of protein or sample menus at 7-8 wks. Thanks.    — who A. (posted on July 30, 2003)

I ate alot of cheese the first 6 months or more post op. It did'nt slow my loss down any. I think most cheeses are low in carbs so I don't worry about the fat in them. Its a good source of protein too.

I've eaten between 2 and 4 ounces of moz cheese (string cheese) every day since about 4 weeks out. It's been my protein lifesaver. Where you're at, it's normal for weight loss to slow or stall for a bit. Good luck!
