I think it might help if you posted what kind of surgery you had.

I had open RNY. With this type WLS, I felt like I needed to burp in the
beginning. This is how I could tell I was full. I also measured
everything. This way just in case I could not tell on my own I would not
over do it. I still measure most of my food at a little over 3 months
post-op. Now, when I feel full, I feel the food in my degestive tract, and
it feels like it isn't going down. I also get a pressure feeling in my
chest and around my breast bone. I hope this helps.

some signs that you're full or nearing capacity: burping, hiccuping,
pressure under your breast bone, sweating and/or yawning. I agree with a
previous poster that until your full-o-meter kicks in that you measure
everything.

I had my surgery on 7/14 and I just figured this out myself. I get a lump
in my throat like I got something stuck there. I also start to feel very
bloated and burp a lot. I measure everything before I eat it and if I get
this feeling before I am done eating then I stop eating. You don't want to
risk tearing your pouch. Hope you figure it out, though.
