Question:
What is the lowest you've paid for a Detour Bar?

I bought a single Detour Bar at CVS for $1.99. Where can I find them for less?    — Sarahlicious (posted on June 17, 2003)

If you like them, why not buy them by the box of 12??? Vitaglo.com has them for $22.95 (free shipping on orders over $50). But if you go for them individually, $1.99 is a pretty good deal...JR

I believe I saw detour bars at BJs, 12/box.... and I believe it was under $20. If you have a BJs close to you, check it out. They also have Carb Solutions for $15.99 for a box of 12 (much cheaper than the individual bars at GNC!). I saw EAS Bars at BJs, box of 15 variety pack (5 each -- lemon, blueberry, and apple... all bars have a white yogurt-looking coating). Haven't tried those yet, but they seem to have TONS of protein, and only 2.5 grams of carbs. For those of you who might not be familiar with BJs, it's the same kind of place as COSTCO and Sam's Club. I've noticed that Sam's Club also has a bunch of protein bars, so definitely check those places out. If you don't have a membership and you eat those bars pretty much on a daily basis, then the $30/$35 yearly membership may be worth it for you.

I always pay 1.99 too, but I shop for the sales and of course on the last day I found them on sale for 1.50 and they only had two left. I think it's better just to go to GNC and pay the 2.99 b/c the bars are bigger than the other ones at Rite Aide, ect. Good luck!

I get the ONE OUNCE ones at Trader Joe's for $1.39 each in San Francisco. These are the "half-size" ones.

I also buy the small ones-same price even if you buy a box vs. 1 at a time-Trader Joes has them for 1.49 each in the Washington DC area.

I get the large bars at GNC. If you join the GNC club, which is about $10 a year membership, it entitles you to 20-30% off anything in the store the first 7 days of each month. Right now the Detour bars are on sale and combined with the discount, the box of 12 was only about $16.00. Needless to say I came home with 2 boxes. I can only eat 1/2 at a time and cold at that. I just cut them in half when I get home and actually put them in zip-locks and keep them in the freezer. This is my healthy immitation of a frozen Snickers bar, which I loved in my former life.....sigh*

$1.25 is the best price I have found at super targets. Also www.dpsnutrition.com has good prices.

I got Detour at GNC today for $2.99 for a 2.8oz bar. Best to buy them the first 7 days of the month with your store member discount. I cut them into pieces and put them in the fridge, I eat one piece now and then to kill the sugar craving. They have 12g of sugar, I think they used to have 9. My local Target dosen't carry them, I will have to check the grocery store. I chose Detour because they are like a Snickers bar. The U-Turn bars are like Milky Way bars which I don't like.
