Question:
Are Edy's Whole Fruit bars okay to eat as a snack at 5 weeks post op

I know that they have 20 grams of sugar but they only have 90 cals I have sugar free pops in the freezer but I am just sick of those and was craving something that, tastes like a peach smoothie anf found these today-I doubt if I am even getting in 600 cals a day-I just want to know are they that bad or can I enjoy one...Please if u disagree say so politely I'm not a child and I don't need the preaching save it for the pulpit...Thanks Tori    — TotallyTori (posted on April 14, 2003)

Victoria, I would use them as a treat. And when you're in your early stages of WLS, you need liquids, so this can help. I would probably only eat 1/2 of it. If you eat the whole thing, you may find yourself with a big tummy ache! And wanted to add: if you're gonna go for the sugar anyway, Hagan Daaz makes a frozen yogurt that has 10 grams of protein. Might satisfy a craving as well. I use that as a treat, its better than icecream cuz it has some protein in it. Goodluck to you!

Tori...Try some of the other Edy's products. They have a lot of No Sugar Added products that don't taste like they are NSA. 20 grams of sugar per serving would make me sick. I've never 'dumped' but even before surgery I couldn't handle sugar. The NSA Fudgsicles (Popsicle brand) are great as well. But Edy's makes plenty of NSA products that I think you'll find to your liking! Experiment! Good luck and DO share if you find something! :)

I'm not familiar with that brand, but I have eaten the whole fruit bars by Dole. At five weeks, I'd be careful with 20g of sugar all at once. Maybe eat half and see how you do?

What I found was great and since I can't tolerate ice cream anymore is Dairy Queen sugar/fat free bars! They have 3 flavors and are delicious!
