Question:
Just want to know if I am eating too much 4 1/2 weeks post op
Today I had about 4 and a1/4 oz of homemade turkey breast chili, one power crunch protein bar which is 1.29 oz and one teaspoon of lowfat ricotta cheese with a teaspoon of spaghetti sauce...I am worried that the protein bars that I love to eat are too fattening for me and that it will limit weight loss sometimes I eat one or two a day because i don't always feel like eating a meal but today I had one and ate lunch and the ricotta snack the cals for this bar are 190 w/9 g of fat and 4 grams of saturated fat..Am I doing too much I can a whole protein bar being that it isn't even 2 oz...Tori — TotallyTori (posted on April 10, 2003)

Tori...I think that you are getting confused on the Power Crunch Bar
between volume ounces & weight
ounces. The Power Crunch Bar (my PB Fudge ones are 1.31 oz)
measurement is 1.31 weight ounces. You need to worry
about the volume of food (in ounces) as the capacity of your pouch is
measured in volume ounces.

With that aside, you could probably eat 4 oz of chili depending on the
thickness of it. Whether you should is another story. I limit myself to
4 oz of chili at a sitting at nine months - at 4 weeks, I was probably
eating 2-3 oz of chili (I could get 3 meals out of small 8 oz Wendy's
chili). The Power Crunch I usually eat only 1/2 off at nine months
(definitely 1/2 of it at 4 weeks).

I am confused at your wording - is this all that you have had so far today
or you had all of this at one meal?? If you had it at one meal, then I
think it's too much. I would be eating 2-3 oz of the chili OR 1/2 of a
power crunch bar (maybe with that teaspoon of ricotta cheese) for one meal-
but not all of it together...JR (open RNY 07/17/02 -167 lbs)

No I don't have this at one meal, this is what I have eaten so far today.
the doctor said it was ok for me to 3 -4oz of chilli and it not really
thick at all it has alot of juice, I am full after 3oz but sometimes I can
eat 4 oz but never more than that and not with any other kind of food-so
are you saying that the protein bar is not 1.28oz of food it is actually
more than that-I am confused now???

Tori - the bar weighs 1.31 oz - the volume of the bar is more than that.
Visualize cutting the bar into pieces and putting it in a measuring cup.
It's going to be more than 1.31 oz of volume (which would be about a 6th of
a cup).
