Question:
A few hours after a protein drink I have major rumbling and gurgling
It seems to be in my lower stomach and intestines. Could it be the bypassed portions of my (open RNY)stomach and intestine acting hungry? If I take gas-x will that help? Will it go eventually away? I'm 3 weeks post-op . — Little L (posted on February 13, 2003)

Nancy, I feel your pain!!! I'm 3 months post-op and I still do this! I
haven't found anything to quiet the beast but would be interested if you
locate something!!! Hugs! Dena Open-RNY 11/15/03

Nancy,
I have the same problem, the growling beast !, and I'm post op 8 months !
Wonder why we have it, I figured it was just our new tummies processing the
food......
Funny ! I have to tell people excuse me, when all it is, is my making
noises.......

Finally somebody talking about the embarrasing noise from the digestive
tract. Mine is so loud sometimes, that my husband and I just crack up. It
seems to happen most when eating more fiberous foods, like veggies
(especially raw); but it's ok, cause I need the fiber, so I just ignore it.
I asked my doc about wheter I should not eat this stuff, and he says it's
fine.

Original poster here. I spoke to a nutritionist at BTC and she asked if
the protein drink was Whey based. It is. She said I may have developed a
lactose intolerance since surgery. She suggested trying lactaid before I
have it. She also said I could try Gas-X to see if that would help.
