hi there! :) i crave those things too at times. i really crave onions and
peppers alot now post op and i do eat them when im craving them. ive heard
on this site to curb sweet cravings you should eat stuff full of protein.
im not sure if this applies for other things as well. sometimes when your
craving things and your sure its not just a "head hunger" thing,
i would take it as a signal that its something your body needs.as for
potatoes, i realize they are among the list of no no foods but every now
and then to eat some i dont think would be too bad for you. just remember
how many you might have eaten pre op. just enjoy in moderation and you will
be fine! :) best of luck to you.

Hmmmmmmm, potatoes! Yum! Onions, boo-hiss. OK, I guess you didn't ask for
my personal opinion on those, so how many g of protein do you get in
supplemental form? I eat normal carbs (not milk or sugar), but if I notice
that my world is revolving around carbs and that's ALL I want, I take more
& more protein (supps) til I get thins back into perspective. I use
quite a bit daily, anyway, but I also find it an effective tool to put me
back in the driver's seat, as far as control.

How much potatoes does it take to curb your craving. If a small amount of
baked potatoes does it, go for it. The potatoes are nourishing, just be
sure to eat protein first. I love onions and peppers and eat them

Stop being so hard on yourself and eat some potatoes. This surgery is
designed to be a tool to control our eating, not eliminate our eating.
Chances are, you can eat just a little of what you want now and be
satisfied. Go ahead and live a little. I am 13 months post op and eat
just about whatever I want, only in small amounts/moderation. I had
pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. And no, I don't feel guilty. I'm not going
to stop living. I've merely stopped eating like a horse. Best wishes on
your journey.

Hello my sister, I really think the only way to rid yourself of a craving
is to give in to it. Give yourself permission to have some pototoes and
onions once a week, or less. I know this is not the advice given by most
people, but I don't believe in "not ever having something ever
again". Take care of yourself my AMOS sister, and like everything
else, if you can't use this advice throw it out, with the bath water. Smile
:~) I just saw your picture you look great. Stay encouraged.
Have a blessed day,
Lenay

Go ahead and have a small serving of potatoes and onions. But one thing
I've found that if I let my protein slip below what my doctor recommends, I
have cravings for carbs. Are you sure your protein is up where it should
be?

An obcessive craving for any particular kind of food usually points to some
type of vitamin or mineral deficiency. When was the last time you had a
complete blood panel run, it might be a good idea to do that now.

This could mean you are lacking potassium...my grandma was told to eat more
potatoes when she was low on potassium. It might be a good idea to have
some bloodwork done!

Potatoes are on my post op diet....at 6 months 1/4 - 1/2 cup. The only
thing, is potatoes go right through you and you can eat more of them than
say chicken...So just be careful....measure and don't it more than you
measured.

I eat anything I want. Really! BUT - I eat my good stuff first. I dish
up the amount of meat (or protein) that I know I need, a small helping of
veggies and a bit of starch. Once I've finished my meat and veggies I can
have the amount of starch I can comfortable eat - no guilt!
