Question:
Does anyone else only get hungry after eating?

Ever since my surgery, I wake up with NO hunger, but after eating breakfast, within an hour or two I get hungry and continue to be hungry until early evening. Then around 7 p.m. I lose my hunger again! Is this normal? Does anyone else experience this? I am still losing weight well but I feel like I am eating every two hours during the day.    — nchaudoin (posted on November 13, 2002)

I am finally starting to analyze my eating habbits and have discovered that I get super hungry if I have a bagle (or other carbs) for bkfast, as opposed to when I focus on eggs or other protein. It's weird...could this be the case with you?

YESSSSSS. I also get like that. I hate it. I try to snack on grapes so that I dont make too many bad choices.

I too get hungry every two hours. And my dietician said this is both normal and fine. As long as you only eat a small amount, stick to your calorie intake and keep your protien up, you are simply keeping your blood sugar level. Obviously your body is buring the calories you are using. One other thing. If I drink too soon after I've eaten, I will get hungry sooner.... Hope this helps. ~~ Tricia

Carbs make your blood sugar rise and that makes you hungry. I have been really focusing on protein to the exclusion of all other foods. One day last week I ate a banana and WOW!, I had the munchies all day, that was the first time that had happened and I am 8 weeks post RNY, down 54#. Hooray!
