Question:
Woke up with my eye swollen and closed shut and a large painless bump

My eye ia swollen shut and I have a large bump between my eyes near my brow. Went to the dr. She's the one who has supported my thru the surgery proceedure. She's great! She said she thot' I'd been bitten by something. My side of my face is also swollen but not too much. Any way... She said I would have to take a steroid for the swelling. She also gave me AcipHex to help w/ possible stomach bleeding. she said there were no other real choices in treating the eye. I can't go to work w/ a closed eye. (I'm a teacher!) Can hear the kids now.... Do any of you have any experience w/ these drugs post op? Any info welcome. My surgery was last Dec.    — Cindee A. (posted on October 28, 2002)

I had something similar happen to me. I was shopping for new sunglasses. A couple of days later I had a bump on the side of my nose by my eye, and my eye was swollen shut. I think I picked up a staph infection from trying on all those glasses that had been tried on by many other people. My Dr gave me a topical antibiotic called bactriban (sp). That took care of it. My husband has had a couple of times where his eye swells shut, and his eye Dr gives him steroid eye drops.
