Question:
Has any one got Tummy tuck covered by Kaiser Northern California
I am still waiting for surgery date and am wondering what I will do with all that extra skin. Hopefull it will shrink back I am 35 and need to loose 150 pounds I am trying to be prepared for any thing that might come up. Has any one got Kaiser to pay for any kind of plastic surgery? — kathy B. (posted on September 10, 2002)

I was told by my surgeon to "save my pennies" for any plastics
because Kaiser doesn't cover them. Any of the people on www.wildrice.com
(Kaiser WLS mailing list) that have had PS all seem to have been self-pay.

Hi Kathy, I too am pre-op but already starting to gather my case for
RECONSTUCTIVE ABDOMINOPLASTY. Kaiser wasn't going to pay for my WLS but I
was successful in getting it approved through the Department of Managed
Healthcare. This is how I see getting approved for an abdominoplasty in
the future. I am gathering scientific/medical journal supporting
citations, professional organizations statements, etc. Email me and I
share what I have. I live in Sacramento and work for Kaiser. Keep in
touch. Best wishes.

I have Kaiser Southern California. I have had my consultation with my
plastic surgeon. I am on a wait list for a surgey date. I did not have
any problems getting a referral from my PCP. I have lost 160lbs and am 21
months post op. Good luck
