Question:
Has anyone else used this - Betaine HCI Pepsin (betaine hydrochloride)?
I scanned over the WLS database and read about various opinions regarding hair loss and yes, I am losing hair like crazy - it's kinda scary. My doctor recommended zinc, so I went to the vitamin store where I met a vitamin guru who recommended Betaine HCI Pepsin (betaine hydrochloride w/Pepsin). She told me that it helps your digestive system and helps your body absorb the critial things our special bodies need. I looked it up on the internet and found the below paragraph which confirmed what she had told me. I 'm wondering now has anyone else tried this vitamin? Has it helped anyone with hair loss or fatigue? I also picked up the hair, skin & nails vitamin and made sure that there was plenty of zinc. It this Betaine HCI works to help absorb protein, B12, calcium, iron and some of the other things we have to supplement, I think we all should be taking this after WLS. Please post your comments and also forward any e-mails to me about this product. There was nothing in the WLS database on this. I've only been taking this stuff for a week, haven't noticed a difference yet but I will keep you all posted. Below is a paragraph that I copied off a website: Betaine HCI Pepsin Betaine HCI and pepsin are gastric-juice components essential to the proper digestion of food and proper absorption of most nutrients. In particular, betaine HCI is necessary for adequate absorption of protein, calcium, vitamin B12 and iron. The low pH of the stomach's hydrochoric acid destroys ingested bacteria and microorganisms. This formula can be beneficial for anyone seeking enhanced digestive function. — Kelly K. Y. (posted on August 5, 2002)

This sounds very interesting. I will have to do some research on this my
self. The one queestion that I would have is does it increase the
absorption of fat? I want that to still be malabsorbed!!!
