Question:
Ever tried ALBA drinks, ANNIE CHUN'S Japanese soup, or IMAGINE ORGANIC soup
I found some products at a local store, Imagine soups-sweet corn and butternut squash-15g carbs & 5g protien per serving, along with Annie Chun's Japanese soup-Miso flavor-5g carbs & 2g protien per serving. I was wondering if anyone had tries the Alba drinks, or Westsoy Plus Vanilla-15g carbs & 5g protien. I am pre-op and am trying several products. Any other suggestions??? I have not seen the products you mention but they sure sound great. If you
like chili, you might want to try a good one that I found. It is called
"Skyline Original Chili" and comes in a 15 ounce can. Each 8
ounce serving has 5 carbs and 28 grams of protein. It has 310 calories per
serving which may be a little high but I cannot eat a full serving anyway
and my surgeon only asks that we monitor our carb intake. Also, it is
pretty smooth so no worries about it getting stuck. Thanks for the info
about the soup and best of luck to you.

The soy milk and Alba are too high carb. Don't know about the soup. I
neer eat foods that have a carb count over 4 grams/seving, and never one
that has more carbs than proteins-ever.
Good luck,

I agree about the soy milk. I found a Westsoy soy milk that is lower in
carbs per serving. The kind to get is Westsoy "Unsweetened," it
comes in either vanilla or organic. It has 9g protein to 5g carbs per 8 oz
serving. I like the vanilla in my protein drink for breakfast. It makes my
shakes much richer. Since it is 100 cal per serving, you may want to limit
it's usage to once a day if you are trying to lose weight pre-op.

I am almost 3-weeks post op and I have tried the vanilla and chocolate
Alba, I made them high protein by adding dry milk to it as well, they both
seem a little too thick for me, but they don't taste that bad. My favorite
high protein is the high protein sugar free carnation instant breakfast.
Mix 8 oz skim milk, 6 Tbps nonfat dry milk, 1 pkg of sugar free carnation=
20 grams of protein. Also, during the full liquid stage you are allowed
sugar free pudding. I made mine high protein by adding 1/4 c nonfat dry
milk to 1 small box pudding, 2 c skim milk=9.5 grams of protein per 1/2
cup. Good luck too you. If you are interested in "high protein"
mixes, vitalady.com sells samples for 1.99 each, this way you don't waste
your money on 2 lbs of mixture you may not like.
