Question:
What does full feel like after surgery?
I am 4 days postop and my surgeon says eat till full (not one bite more). My problem is that I don't know what full feels like. I have been eating about 3-4 ounces of soft foods (mashed potato consistency) and no more because I am scared of busting something open. I do feel a pressure in my throat but air bubbles up so I don't know if it is air pressure or a full feeling. Can someone describe what is feels like and if it is pressure where it is located. Thanks. — Daphne S. (posted on March 8, 2002)

I'm not a big fan of the ultra soft foods, for the very reason you stated.
You may be getting too much volume in. You might try baked potato innards
instead, don't squish 'em. You may find yourself comfortably full on just
1-2 oz and a nice feeling of satisfaction to go with it. I agree with
taking about 15-20 min for your meal, no more. It's important to feel
satisfied, because then you have no desired to feel "stuffed".
