Question:
Has anyone done this with their vitamins?

My surgeon prescribe me medication to take when I eat protein only. It enables my body to absorb all my protein in the foods Iam eating. What would happen if I took my pill with my vitamins?? Wouldn't I absorb more of my vitamins? (my protein level is alittle low)thats why I have to take these pills.I could take my vitamins when I eat a protein only meals. Anyway, I am just thinking out loud and thought I would throw this out to everyone to hear their thoughts!!! Thanks alot!!!!!!    — Laura G. (posted on February 21, 2002)

You didn't say what the product is, but I am assuming Viokase powder or Kuzyme, something like that? Whatever it touches DIGESTS. AS RNY, we don't truly "digest" anything in the way we once did, with the lower stomach sealed away. Things must be DIGESTED before they can be ASBORBED. The pancrease preparations cause whatever they touch to DIGEST for better absorption. So, if you take it with vites, the result might be to increase their absorption OR it might neutralize them in some way. Did you ask your doc the effect of this Rx with any OTC meds or vites? When I had to use this (back in teh dark ages 1996), I took the pills and all other foods quite separately from it.
