I've always been a fast eater and still am. I'm sure others will post and tell you to wait "so long" between bites and they will probally be right. But certainly "try to go slow". You do want to be careful. Just listen to your body. If I eat to fast I can feel it back up in my throat and sometimes feel like I have a stone in my stomach. I'm trying to slow down but old habits die hard.

My surgeon gave me the three minute rule between bites and it has worked quite well for me. I have had no nausea or vomiting. The only time I had discomfort was when I ate faster or swallowed a big bite. I believe you can eat a little faster the further you get out from your surgery. If you are a newbie take your time...

Personally, I found that if I put my spoon, or fork, down between every single bite, that really helped. It allowed me to get used to having to eat more slowly, as I have always been a really fast eater. Depending on what kind of surgery you have had, you really need to watch how slow you eat.

my life long eating habit has always been to eat slowly & savor my food. my mother always said 'my sheryl literally loves her food. unfortunately just smelling it causes her to gain 5 pounds.' lol. i am 50 years old & still eat so slowly that my family strums their fingers on the table top waiting for me to finish because they have been finished for 15 minutes already. lol. at home they know they r free to leave the table but in a restaurant they cant very well do that. & i dont eat large portions either! at my surgeons orientation he said he expects us to take 20 to 30 minutes to eat our food. while the other ppl in the room groaned i sat there & laffed. when he asked why i was laffing i told him i already do that! he laffed too but said i wont have any problem then.
