Yes, and it worked great. It was the one my doctor recommended. It took hardly any time at all.

I am 4 weeks post op RNY and I like the Milk of Magnesia. It works without craping and doesn't work "too well". But, remember that you won't go anywhere near as often as you used to becuase you aren't taking in enough to cause a lot of waste.

Yes. My doctor recommended it..As long as I use it daily it works. It took me a few days to get going, but it does work..I still only go very little...even though I use the stuff...probably because I do not eat much...Good luck to you!

I just read in the cookbook, "Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" by Patt Levine and Michele Bontempo-Saray, that one 400 IU softgel of Vitamin E works wonders . . . . I'd check with your dr. first.

My doc okayed Milk of Mac also, after I told him I'd dye before I took that colace crap again. Ewwwie. The upside of MOM, no cramps, and good results. The down side, still tastes pretty bad. I have to take something everyday, or I end up in a bad fix! Remember to drink plenty of fluids with what ever you go with. And like the other poster said. Just make sure with your doctor. Good luck!

All-bran makes a drink with 10 grams of fiber and it tastes great. I drink one a day and haven't had any problems since. You can find it at Wal-Mart in the isle were they have the Benefiber. Hope this helps. Lisa

I asked my surgeon about this when I ahd to start taking iron and he said it's good for occasional use. If it's a persistent problem, he said to use Metamucil. My sister-in-law told me that Costco had Metamucil pills. Regular Metamucil never helped in the past so I wasn't very optimistic and seriously doubted that I'd get the entire glass of it down. I opted for the pills and they're great--no problems sense. I take one ever other day.

MOM is best! (in my humbel opinion....) Milk Of Magnesia! A little goes a long way! Try drinking more water too...Fiber One Cereal is great too...1/4 cup has 14 g's of fiber...tastes great and doesn't bloat me...I like it dry as a snack or on yogurt too...(Not the flakes but the pellet-looking-rabbit food one!)

I <3 Miralax. It takes a couple days before it does anything, but it doesn't cause the severe cramping that I've experienced with other laxatives (including MOM). It has no taste so you can even mix it into water (though juice, coffee, tea, crystal light, etc. work just as well). One thing to keep in mind... your bowel movements are not going to be the same as they were before surgery... you're eating different foods in different amounts. I would suggest going by how you feel and stool quality (abdominal pain, fullness, or small, dry, hard stools) rather than frequency to judge whether or not you need a laxative. And don't forget to talk to your doctor! Good luck.
