Question:
Anyone tried liquid protein drinks?
I have had enough of milk, but still need to get the right amount of protein. Is there going to come a time when we can drink and not sip fluids? I'm not a patient person by nature. — Toby2 (posted on August 12, 2008)

This RNY process takes time, at least a year. You learn to drink, then eat
soft foods, then try more solid foods, etc. Patience is needed. I urge you
to attend support groups. I just returned from one of 3 support group
meetings I attend every month. Yes, you'll learn to drink fluids
"faster" than a sip, but many cannot gulp liquids like they could
before surgery. Don't worry how you're getting you fluid intake at this
time, the important thing is that you're getting proper hydration. Protein
shakes are going to be needed, as milk alone will not provide enough
protein. DAVE

Hi,
I can undertand wanting more than milk. I tried to use Carantion Instant
Breakfast [sugar free] as well as the Atkins drinks. I am allergic to
Iodine so they did not work for me,but they do taste ok. My daughter went
to GNC and found ISOPURE in bottles. They have many flavors, green apple
& melon, orange, pinapple & banana. They are fine very cold and with
ice like you use in a slushi. There protien level is 40g per bottle. Also
have used PROSTAT..from CVS on line. Wish you well and everything comes in
time. I am 6 weeks out from WLS. Iam not able to eat well the soft food
,but drinks are fine. Slow and steady will get us to our goals!

I'm with Julie on this one. I can't drink the shakes, they hit my stomach
and come right back up. But the Isopure drinks work great and I'm getting
my protein. The green apple and fruit punch are great. I didn't like the
teas though. Also, there are protein slam by New Whey. They contain about
42 grams of protein in about 3 fluid ozs. I like the fruit punch. I get
all of them at GNC, but I just noticed that Vitalady is selling the Isopure
now, for a little cheaper than I can get it at GNC.
Good Luck

Hi Nevalle,
Hope you are doing well. I know that milk is boring but they have these
protein drinks called Boost. They come in many flavors and also have
smoothies pretty good flavor.

I had a lot of problems with milk for a long time after my lap band.. seems
to be getting a little better now, but it's been a year since my surgery. I
used the Nu-whey bullets. They are only 3.5 oz and taste okay (as long as
you don't refridgerate them.. they get thick) and have 42 grams of protein.
So that made it easy to get a large amount of my protein without having to
drink tons of liquids or shakes to do it.

I have been using a protien drink called Unjury, my Dr recommended it to
me. It tastes pretty good and you can get single serving packets so you're
not stuck with the same flavor all the time. I am able to order it online
at www.unjury.com Hope this helps!

You can purchase protien powder in vanilla or chocolate...I personally
suggest the vanilla as you can put it in your smoothies or any other
beverage. I rarely eat meat so had to find a protein alternative. You can
buy this at wal-mart as well as GNC or any other nutrition store

Several ways to get protein that even taste good. The Whey bullets are
really good and have 42 grams of protein. Also Costco sells Premier
Chocolate shake drink and they are 30grams/ 11 oz. and really good cold.
